Missing Person 40 year old Amanda Oake Located Deceased

UPDATE

Around 2:45 p.m. on December 8, 2020, we received a call regarding what was believed to be a deceased person in a wooded area off of Wavy Lake Road.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the adult woman was deceased. Due to the location where the body was found, the Ontario Provincial Police initiated an investigation into the death.

Man Stabbed During Early Morning Incident - Person Responsible in Custody

Just before 6:30 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, December 16, 2020, we received a call regarding a Weapons Complaint at a residential building on Pine Street in Greater Sudbury. Information provided was that a man had been stabbed and that the individual responsible was still in the building.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man who had suffered a serious stab wound. The 30 year old man was immediately transported to hospital by Paramedic Services and he remains in hospital in stable condition.

Impaired Driver Arrested and Charged Search of Vehicle Results in Seizure of $60,000 Worth of Drugs

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2020, we were called in relation to a Suspicious Vehicle complaint in the parking lot of a grocery store on Regent Street in Greater Sudbury. Information provided was that the vehicle had been running in the parking lot for two hours and the driver appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat. The caller had attempted to wake up the driver by knocking on the window; however, the driver did not appear responsive.

The Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit was recently notified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that a person in Greater Sudbury had been accessing and possessing Child Pornography online over a period of several years.

On December 10, 2020, our I.C.E. and Computer Forensics Units in conjunction with our Emergency Response Unit (Tactical) and Intelligence Unit executed Search Warrants at two residences in Greater Sudbury.

Local Woman Arrested and Charged After Stealing Close to $130,000 from Employer

On March 27, 2020, we received a call from a local daycare regarding an alleged substantial Fraud. Information provided was that an employee of the daycare had allegedly been accepting funds owed to the daycare and fraudulently depositing these funds into personal bank accounts.

The incident was assigned to a Detective in our Financial Crimes Branch of our Criminal Investigation Division.
