The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to remind business owners to be vigilant with regards to phone purchases using credit cards.

On June 17th, 2024, the Greater Sudbury Police Service was contacted by a local car dealership in relation to a fraudulent transaction made by a customer totalling over $17,000.

The suspect also made a second attempt at a fraudulent purchase totalling over $19,000.

DEU seize $78,500 in illicit drugs during drug trafficking investigation

On June 18, 2024, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) were conducting a drug investigation on a suspected drug trafficker. While conducting the investigation, Detectives witnessed the individual driving a vehicle despite being a prohibited driver due to a previous impaired driving conviction.

From June 10th-12th, 2024, the Greater Sudbury Police Traffic Management Unit conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) safety blitz in partnership with Ontario Provincial Police T.I.M.E. and the Ministry of Transportation. 

The results were as follows:

  • Level 1 CVSA Inspections: 43
  • Level 2 Inspections: 4
  • Inspections Under 4500 kg: 12

23-year-old arrested and charged with Attempt Murder after dangerous driving incident on Kathleen St

Around 6:35 a.m. on June 1, 2024, officers were dispatched to Kathleen Street in relation to a traffic complaint. Information provided was that an individual driving a grey sedan, drove the vehicle over a curb into a parking lot and attempted to enter an establishment on foot, however the business was closed. The individual got back into the vehicle and abruptly left the parking lot at a high rate of speed, once again driving over the curb.
