Human Trafficking Online Reporting Option Now Available

In the last year, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) has conducted 93 Human Trafficking-related investigations resulting in 20 Human Trafficking-related charges being laid. During this time, 71 Survivors of Human Trafficking have been identified however a number of these individuals are not residents of Greater Sudbury as Human Trafficking is a multi-jurisdictional crime where traffickers move from city to city, within the province and throughout Canada.

Between January 2022 and March 2023, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received several fraud complaints in relation to local businesses, 5026830 Ontario Ltd. and Nickel City Financing, operated by the same individual. 

Multiple community members alleged that after providing deposits for sea containers, repossessed items, and other services, the goods and services were never provided nor were the community members refunded.

The Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG), in partnership with the Greater Sudbury Police Service and with assistance from the Durham Regional Police, has arrested six people after identifying a drug trafficking operation reaching from the Greater Toronto Area to Sudbury.

Fatal Collision on MR55 at Magill Street

Just after 6:00 a.m. this morning, March 28, 2023, officers were dispatched to MR55 and Magill Street in relation to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a transport.

A transport traveling westbound towards Lively on MR55 was involved in a collision with a vehicle traveling eastbound making a left hand turn from MR55 onto Magill Street.

Three People Arrested After Robbery in Laneway

Around 5:50 p.m. on March 21, 2023, officers were dispatched to the area of Old City Hall Lane in relation to a robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival officers located a 39-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries from the attack. He was transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services.
