Three Individuals Arrested and Charged with Drug Trafficking Offences

On the morning of February 11th, 2025, Detectives from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation regarding individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury. As a result of the investigation, the GSPS Emergency Response Unit (ERU) executed a search warrant on Leslie Street in Greater Sudbury.

CRU officers arrest individual on outstanding warrant and locate $117,000 worth of drugs

Just before 6:00 p.m. on February 5, 2025, officers from the Community Response Unit (CRU) were on bike patrol downtown when they located an individual who was wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants on Elgin Street. The officers had information that the individual may be in possession of a firearm, therefore they requested additional units attend the area prior to affecting the arrest.

Shortly after 6:10 p.m., officers from the CRU and Patrol Operations took the individual into custody.

18-year-old arrested and charged after home invasion on Frood Road

On February 3, 2025, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence on Frood Road. Information received was that multiple individuals broke into the residence and assaulted one of the residents.

Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old, man who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics where he remains in critical condition.

Officers investigating stabbing in area of Notre Dame Ave and St. George St

Shortly after 1:50 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Notre Dame Avenue at St. George Street in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual had attended an establishment on Notre Dame Avenue with what were believed to be stab wounds.

Officers and Greater Sudbury Paramedics arrived on scene and located a 31-year-old, man who had sustained serious injuries. The individual was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Shortly after 9:45 a.m. on January 27, 2025, officers were dispatched to the Laurentian University campus in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided to our 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Centre was that an individual was armed with a gun and was threatening to take people hostage.
