Barricaded Person - 46-year-old Man Arrested and Charged

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on January 24, 2025, officers attended a residence on Falconbridge Hwy in Garson in relation to an altercation resulting in a barricaded person. Due to the heavy police presence, some area roads were closed for safety.

Members of the Emergency Response Unit, K9 Unit and Negotiators attended the scene. At 6:05 a.m. on January 25, 2025, a 46-year-old man was taken into custody without incident and was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

Officers investigating shots fired on Notre Dame Avenue

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., on January 22, 2025, the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the area of Notre Dame Avenue at Bond Street.

When officers arrived in the area it was learned that a collision had occurred involving two vehicles and a black Chevrolet Avalanche on Bond Street, and that gunshots had been fired from the Avalanche during the incident. 31-year-old woman arrested and charged with numerous CDSA offences

Earlier this month, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit initiated an investigation into an individual believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury.

Fatal collision involving pedestrian on RR 55

UPDATE
The pedestrian has been identified as a 26-year-old, woman from Greater Sudbury. Her name will not be released out of respect for the family's wishes.

Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends and those impacted by this incident.

RR55 is now open in both directions.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
