Around 3:05 p.m. on July 4, 2022, a man described as being between 65-70 years old, around 5’8”-5’10” with a medium build attended a residence on Brabant Street in Azilda. The man was wearing a yellow helmet with a full face shield and was driving ATV when he arrived at the residence.

Stabbing on Frood Road Leaves Man with Life Threatening Injuries

Around 11:55 p.m. on July 7, 2022, an Officer was in the area of Frood Road and Jean Street when he was flagged down by a man. The man explained that he had been involved in an altercation with another man while inside a residence on Frood Road and as a result of the altercation he had been stabbed.

The Officer immediately requested City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and the 51 year old man was transported to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries.

Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on July 2, 2022, an Officer was in the area of Valleyview Road in Val Caron when he attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2015, dark grey, two-door Dodge Challenger, however, the driver of the vehicle drove around the marked police cruiser with its emergency lights activated and accelerated at a high rate of speed heading West on Valleyview Road.

56-year old Teacher from St. Charles College Arrested and Charged with Sexual Offences

On June 23rd, 2022 we received a complaint of inappropriate behaviour and touching at St. Charles College, involving a 56-year old male teacher and students under the age of 16. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the Survivors’ identities, no further details will be provided.

As a result of the investigation, on June 30th, 2022, Detectives of the Major Crime Unit arrested and charged the 56-year old man with the following:

  • Sexual Assault x2
  • Sexual Interference x2
