Requirements

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
  • Physically and mentally able to perform the duties of a Police Officer- must be able to pass the Greater Sudbury Police Service Fitness Test, as well as a medical and psychological assessment
  • Valid driver's license with full driving privileges
  • Current Certificate in CPR (Level "C") and First Aid
  • Currently in good standing with respective Police Service
  • Completion of the Basic Constable Training Program or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to meet Essential Competencies and knowledge through previous Policing Experience
  • Bilingualism considered an asset

Military Police Experienced Officer Candidates:

  • Military Police Experience Officer Candidates may qualify for the Ontario Police College's (OPC) equivalency process. Candidate must also complete the equivalency exam process.
  • Candidates must have successfully completed a probationary period as set out in Section 44 (1) of the Police Services Act (PSA)

Upon submitting an application, applicants will be sent a confirmation of receipt within five (5) business days. Applications will remain active on file for one year. Upon commencing a competition for Experienced Officer only applicants selected to move forward will be contacted.

Selection Process

Stage One

  • Complete an application package containing: Experienced Constable Application, Resume & Cover Letter

Stage Two

  • Applicant Screening
  • Military Police Experienced Officer candidates will be assessed based on eligibility to obtain equivalency

Stage Three

  • Selected candidates may be contacted to complete a written Local Focus Interview, Experienced Officer Written Assessment and Pre-Background Questionnaire

Stage Four

  • Successful candidates invited for a Competency Interview

Stage Six

  • Greater Sudbury Police Service Experienced Officer Training Program
