Police Service Board Names New Chief of Police

After a comprehensive national search, the Greater Sudbury Police Service Board is pleased to announce that Sara Cunningham has been selected as the next Chief of Police.

“Deputy Chief Cunningham’s 26 years with the Service has made her well-equipped to assume this position,” said Chair Al Sizer. “She has served with pride, distinction, and excellence, and brings vast experience to the role. I am very pleased to have her serve as our next Chief.”

Around 1:45 p.m. on September 13, 2024, Detectives from the Break Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit located and arrested 36-year-old, Brent Bertrand on Pharand Street.

Youths suspected of throwing rocks on Maley Drive

Just before 2:10 p.m. on September 4, 2024, officers were dispatched to Maley Drive, West of the Barrydowne Road roundabout in relation to a Mischief.

Information provided was that a community member was driving eastbound on Maley Drive, West of the Barrydowne Road roundabout when a large rock struck the windshield of the vehicle causing substantial damage.
