October 7th, 2023 marks 30 years since the day Constable Joseph MacDonald was murdered in the line of duty, while serving his community. Yesterday, current and retired members of GSPS as well as Joe’s family gathered in the Cst. Joe MacDonald Memorial Park to honour his life and legacy.

53-year-old arrested and charged for Human Trafficking-related offences

In August 2023, the Greater Sudbury Police Service Integrated Crime Section began a Human Trafficking-related investigation after receiving a report from a survivor of multiple sexual assaults and incidents of forcible confinement. To protect the survivor’s identity, no further details will be provided. 

As a result of the investigation, just after 7:00 a.m. on October 5, 2023, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Minnow Lake and an individual was taken into custody without incident....

Yesterday we held the concluding ceremony and feast for our 3rd annual Mooz Akinonmaaget Maa Aki – Moose Who Teaches Land Survival. The third suspect involved in this incident has been identified as 20-year old Brandon Leclair-Davey of Greater Sudbury and is believed to be actively evading Police. He has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada: 

  • Robbery with Violence
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
