Fatal Train-Pedestrian Collision Claims Life of 41-Year-Old Woman

At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) responded to a report of a collision involving a train and a pedestrian on Harry Crescent, off Howey Drive.

Patrol Operations officers were first to arrive on scene and located a 41-year-old woman who had sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, her identity will not be released. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones...

UPDATE 3 - Officers investigating fatal collision on Lasalle Extension

The Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) continues to investigate the fatal collision that occurred on June 17, 2025, on Lasalle Boulevard.

The driver of the sedan travelling westbound on Lasalle Boulevard at the time of the collision has been identified and spoken to.

Stranded Kayakers Rescued by Air North of Levack

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on July 22, 2025, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) received a call from a concerned community member reporting two overdue kayakers who had departed around 1:30 p.m. and had not been heard from since.

The two men had set out kayaking on the Onaping River, north of Levack. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact them, the caller reached out to police for assistance.

Emergency Services respond to drowning at Moonlight Beach

Shortly after 5:20 p.m. on July 19, 2025, officers were dispatched to a drowning incident at Moonlight Beach.

Upon arrival, officers met with Greater Sudbury Fire Services who were on scene. GSFS Water Rescue had responded to the incident and pulled two individuals from the water. One individual, a 27-year-old, man was alert and conscious upon reaching shore, however, the second individual, a 24-year-old, man was unconscious and without vital signs.

Officers arrest and charge two individuals after Robbery with a firearm in Garson

On July 9, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residence in Garson in relation to a Robbery with a firearm. Information provided was that two individuals attended the residence where a verbal altercation took place with those present inside the home. One of the individuals displayed a handgun while the other individual stole personal items from the victims. The two individuals then fled the scene in a blue Ford F-150 pick-up truck prior to police being called.
